It’s time for another well overdue venue spotlight! I have a bit of an obsession with Sydney Harbour. Each and every likelihood I get I want to be on a boat on the harbour or overlooking it. So I’m usually in awe of the spectacular venues Sydney supplies with the most gorgeous methods to exploit the beauty of the harbour.
The American Club is a 64 year old members only club which overlooks not only the harbour, but the Royal Botanic Gardens (so a excellent selection if you’re holding your ceremony in the gardens). The club was refurbished in 2010 and attributes striking, contemporary interiors with floor to ceiling windows for taking in the view.
The American Club has different packages accessible for weddings. Beginning off with the “Classic” package which consists of a three course menu, unlimited regular beverage package, parquetry dance floor, white linens and venue coordinator to the “Elegant” wedding package which contains delights such as a 4 course banquet menu, unlimited normal beverage package, parquetry dance floor, expert DJ, printed menus and an anniversary dinner for two. The venue also has the capacity for cocktail events with inclusions such as a expert DJ, scattered modern furnishings, four hour unlimited common drinks package and parquetry dance floor.
But back to the banquet menu for a moment although chicken and beef are usually excellent choices, it’s a little challenging to resist the temptations of “Carnaroli risotto with smoked ocean trout, snow peas and roasted sweet corn, crisp dill” and “Atlantic salmon fillet, on dill and corn fritter, with chardonnay cream” not to mention desserts like “Lime meringue pie with passionfruit sauce and roasted hazelnut dust” and Mr Polka Dot’s favourite “Warm sticky date and pear pudding with butterscotch sauce and double cream”. (There is usually space for dessert and if there isn’t, well you need to have to uncover your dessert stomach simply because it does exist).
The American Club holds 150 guests for banquets or 180 for cocktails.
I really like the metallic tones of this venue- they really lend themselves to an urban, clean vibe. Probably fill the spice with white flowers with distinct te4xtures and candles in many distinct heights to add interest. For one thing various, compliment the chocolate and marble with bold brights like fuchsia, magenta, saffron yellows and warm oranges.
