Stockholm’s Clarion Hotel is carrying out away with the notion of the starving artist by accepting artwork as payment for hotel rooms. In order to qualify for the deal, artists just want to submit any signed piece of artwork which fits on an A4 sheet of paper, along with a Space for Art type describing the artist and artwork. The hotel requires ownership of the artwork and in exchange, supplies a single night’s remain for up to two folks in a double area.
Room for Art is the brainchild of Clarion’s general manager, whose aim is to produce an atmosphere that appreciates art and welcomes and attracts artists.
