The Lancia Thema was designed based on the new Chrysler 300, in turn produced on the Chrysler Group LX rear wheel drive platform, and like its predecessor in 1984, it is ready to take on the toughest and most prestigious segment, striving to provide a genuine alternative.
The new Lancia Thema delivers two distinct 6-cylinder engine versions, all with automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The Pentastar V6 3.6 litre petrol engine delivers 286 HP, and has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 three. litre Multijet II diesel engine is offered in two energy levels: 190 HP and 239 HP, both with 5-speed automatic transmission.
The new Lancia Thema is equipped with the tried and tested W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission on the diesel engines and the 8R45 eight-speed automatic transmission developed by ZF combined with the three.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine.
The suspensions of the new Thema ensure overall performance worthy of a Gran Turismo, as 1 may expect from the fantastic European saloon vehicles. Two suspension set-ups and wheel/tyre combinations are accessible: “Comfort” (standard on the Gold and Platinum trim levels with 18″ wheels and tyres) and “Touring” (regular on the Executive trim level with 20″ wheels and tyres and, on request, on the Platinum trim level if fitted with 20″ wheels and tyres).
